SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE INSTITUTION :
Founded in 1985, RERO (acronym for REseau Romand) is the library network of Western Switzerland. It is a consortium comprising over 270 academic, research, heritage, public and specialized libraries, used by the political, university and cultural authorities in the French speaking part of Switzerland to manage a documentary policy based on cooperation, and the sharing of resources and services. The member libraries all contribute to a union catalogue through a centralized ILS, which offers 6.6 million bibliographic references and 228 000 name authorities, serving over 370’000 patrons including 56’000 students from 5 universities (Geneva, Lausanne, Fribourg, Neuchâtel, HES-SO).
